Christmas Tags!

December is such a busy month for all of us.I managed to make some tags for everyone who I sent a Christmas card to.They were such fun, most were just made with number 8 tags that I covered with Christmas paper on both sides and then decorated.Nothing too fancy but I like them and they were fun to make.I made about 20 but forgot to take pictures of all of them.

Making Cards!

I would never call myself a card maker.I hardly ever make cards unless I need to send one right away and can't get to the store.
I took some pretty papers, added ribbons,Prima flowers, some flowers I made myself and lots of Prima bling and this is what I accomplished.

The bottom right card was my attempt making a masculine card for my father,I don't think it quite made it.

Tres Leches Cake!

"Tres Leches Cake" is named for the three milks in the soaking liquid (Leche means milk in Spanish.) The three milks in the soaking sauce for Tres Leches are sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and heavy cream. The heavy cream is also whipped up to use as the topping. Due to the rich ingredients and that it is soaked in a creamy syrup, Tres Leches Cake is extremely dense and moist, almost like a custard. Tres Leches is sweet and delicious, but it is nothing like a traditional dry cake that is light and fluffy.

I saw someone make this on youtube and of course I had to make one.

Here is mine,I didn't put the strawberries on till it was served.
If you don't mind gaining a few pounds,I suggest you try this cake!
Loved It!

Make Nestabilities with Your Cricut and SCAL!

I've bought nestabilities to use in my cuttlebug but as we know, they are quite expensive.I have a cricut and was searching for svg files for scalloped circles and came across this site Peggy Duncan Creations She shares 100's of svg files and I think there was 122 for just the nesties,as she calls them.
Please watch tutorial for her NESTIE Files to create the look of the very popular products you can purchase on the market. The wonderful thing about her NESTIE Files is that you are not limited to a particular size. Some people will have to rename the files to make them into svg's,I did.

If you have that problem look at the file name…it may have added an “_” to the end of the file name….all you need to do is right click on the file and select RENAME and then click on the “_” and delete it….now you can click off the file and it will be perfect

Enjoy.
Some of this post was copied from her site.

The Power of One!

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring
One smile begins a friendship
One handclasp lifts a soul
One star can guide a ship at sea
One word can frame the goal
One vote can change a nation
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness
One laugh will conquer gloom
One step must start each journey
One word must start each prayer
One hope will raise our spirits
One touch can show you care
One voice can speak with wisdom
One heart can know what's true
One life can make the difference
You see, IT'S UP TO YOU!!

Home Made Prima Flowers!

I love Prima Flowers but they can be cheaper if you make them yourself. They are pretty easy.I used my cricut to cut the scalloped flowers out.I got my cricut pattern for free HERE
Some people use their paper punches but I didn't have any for scalloped flowers. The video I used for inspiration was on YouTube
This video is another version of the Crumpled Flower
These can be addicting!I used mostly K and Company papers and also used Shimmer Mists to finish mine off.
Mine are more scrunched up but once they dry they can't really be manipulated that well.
Here are a few of mine.

Paint Spinner! Repost

Do you remember the paint spinners at the amusement parks?
The paper would spin around and you would squirt paint onto it while it was spinning. When it stopped the person put it into a little frame for you.
They sell those for kids, but I saw one on Ebay really cheap so I just had to buy it.
I used it a few times and then put it away but got it out today because I had an idea.I placed a rub-on,on the paper then put it in the spinner and dropped alcohol inks on it while it was spinning.

Here is what I got!I liked how they turned out.

Toilet Paper Rolls = Mini Album

I saw this on YouTube and had to try it.I watched several videos to get an idea of how to do it and this is the one I liked best. She also gives you a template to make on your cricut. She has it on her website.I wanted to have these done for Earth Day but I didn't get them done.I just punched holes and used ribbon and fibers to bind them.

Here are the ones I made.

I love playing with dominoes.
All of these were done using alcohol inks and rubber stamps.
How Cool!

I made this one into a wall hanging.
I laid them out in a pattern and stamped them.
I placed them onto a sheet of red sticky tape.
Then covered the whole domino picture with Diamond Glaze.

Journal Page For Today!

My Art Journal pages go from real grungy to real cutsey and anything in between.I guess that means I have no real style of my own,but it also means I do my pages according to how I am feeling that day.
My favorite thing to do is backgrounds. The quote on my page is one of my very favorite quotes.I wish I could follow it and I do try.

Cryptic Coptic Binding Class

I took a Coptic Stitch Binding Class because I have always loved that stitch and wanted to make my own journal with it!

The teacher Rhomany did an excellent job.She made it very easy to learn this stitch. She took something that seemed very complicated and made it simple.
If you are interested in taking her class you can here.

Here is the journal I made,I can't wait to make more.

Color Cubbie For Copics

Each Color Cubbie holds 120 Copic sketch syle markers with 24 markers on each shelf. The shelves of the Color Cubbie are angled so you can easily see the name of each marker (Copic Sketch style) and the angled shelves allow you to pull a marker out from anywhere on the shelf without the other markers falling out.

My Copics Are Here Already!

Carpe Diem is located in California and is extremely fast at packing up your order and getting it out the door.
I placed the order on Tuesday March 23rd and they shipped same day and delivery was today via Fed Ex.
They were also selling the Copics the cheapest of all online stores I  have checked. ($3.95 @)

Ok I am feeling like the Copic Princess!

Funny thing is I am not really a card maker, but maybe I should be now to use my markers.I just love pens and markers.
I bought the paper most people recommended for Copics,it's from Gina K.Designs,Pure Luxury Pure White . From what I have read this is the only paper that Copics will not bleed through.
Everyone is also recommending memento tuxedo black ink for stamping because it will not smear with the markers. My printer ink does smear so before I use markers I spray the image with a fixative.
I have always used Pitt Brush Markers so am excited to see the difference. One huge difference will be the amount of colors Copics Sketch Markers have,334!
If you are looking for hints and tips I am suggesting the site I learned the most from.I Like Markers!
Check out all the information she has listed on the right hand side too.

Here they are right out of the box!
Here they are out of their packaging. =)

Now here they are,all accounted for!
Thank You Carpe Diem for a wonderful shopping experience!

Finally Bought Copic Markers.

I actually found two places that I could of bought them from.
One company, Carpe Diem sells them for $3.95 @ but you have to pay shipping.
This is the company I bought from.
There is another company, Oozak. and they have free shipping on orders over $50.00 but their pens are $4.15 @.I have seen these pens go for as much as $8.00 @.
To decide on my colors I went to other artist's sites to see what colors are used the most.
This chart came from Kelly Kilmer, she says these are her favorite Copics.I bought a lot of these colors and will buy them in stages till I get all that I want.I didn't invest in the glitter pens yet.

Just a little update on these pens,I ordered them today from Carpe Diem and they were shipped today.
