My Copics Are Here Already!

Carpe Diem is located in California and is extremely fast at packing up your order and getting it out the door.
I placed the order on Tuesday March 23rd and they shipped same day and delivery was today via Fed Ex.
They were also selling the Copics the cheapest of all online stores I  have checked. ($3.95 @)

Ok I am feeling like the Copic Princess!

Funny thing is I am not really a card maker, but maybe I should be now to use my markers.I just love pens and markers.
I bought the paper most people recommended for Copics,it's from Gina K.Designs,Pure Luxury Pure White . From what I have read this is the only paper that Copics will not bleed through.
Everyone is also recommending memento tuxedo black ink for stamping because it will not smear with the markers. My printer ink does smear so before I use markers I spray the image with a fixative.
I have always used Pitt Brush Markers so am excited to see the difference. One huge difference will be the amount of colors Copics Sketch Markers have,334!
If you are looking for hints and tips I am suggesting the site I learned the most from.I Like Markers!
Check out all the information she has listed on the right hand side too.

Here they are right out of the box!
Here they are out of their packaging. =)

Now here they are,all accounted for!
Thank You Carpe Diem for a wonderful shopping experience!

Finally Bought Copic Markers.

I actually found two places that I could of bought them from.
One company, Carpe Diem sells them for $3.95 @ but you have to pay shipping.
This is the company I bought from.
There is another company, Oozak. and they have free shipping on orders over $50.00 but their pens are $4.15 @.I have seen these pens go for as much as $8.00 @.
To decide on my colors I went to other artist's sites to see what colors are used the most.
This chart came from Kelly Kilmer, she says these are her favorite Copics.I bought a lot of these colors and will buy them in stages till I get all that I want.I didn't invest in the glitter pens yet.

Just a little update on these pens,I ordered them today from Carpe Diem and they were shipped today.

New Obsession!

Just what I need,a new art obsession.
It's TAPE!
Since I have been doing "Art Journals" I have been looking for cool stuff to use in them and I discovered tape.
I wasn't looking for the tape but it found me and I think that's an omen.
I was on another blog looking at her post about the pens she uses in her art when on the side I saw TAPE!
She has a post where she tells you where to buy the tape and shows you a lot of what she has.

I bought mine on Etsy. Here they are,but I need more!

Marriage Rules!

I saw this idea in Cloth,Paper,Scissors July/August 2007.
It is made from different patterns of fabric glued onto a canvas.Printed words and heart embellishments.
I made it for my anniversary last year.I changed the quotes to apply to my 40 year old marriage.
It is hanging in my Living Room.

Out Of My Cocoon!

I never felt I was good enough to do art and show it to anyone. It has taken me a very long time to realize that I am an "artist".
Maybe not by your definition but by mine.I don't like everyone's art but I do respect everyone's art.

I love this quote!
“The artist is not a different kind of person, but every person is a different kind of artist”  Eric Gill

My journal page is about the beginning of my journey to be an artist.Coming out of my cocoon and starting to share my art.

This page has many layers just like me!I started off with gesso, papers and paint.
I added cheesecloth, modeling paste and different colors of leafing for dimension.Used rubber stamps, little stars and glitter.Finished it off with me as the butterfly.

Daylight Saving Time!

The change to Daylight Saving Time allows us to use less energy in lighting our homes by taking advantage of the longer and later daylight hours. During the eight-month period of Daylight Saving Time, the names of time in each of the time zones in the U.S. change as well. Eastern Standard Time (EST) becomes Eastern Daylight Time, Central Standard Time (CST) becomes Central Daylight Time (CDT), Mountain Standard Time (MST) becomes Mountain Daylight Time (MDT), Pacific Standard Time becomes Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), and so forth.

Daylight Saving Time was instituted in the United States during WW1 in order to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October. During World War II the federal government again required the states to observe the time change. Between the wars and after WW2,states and communities chose whether or not to observe Daylight Saving Time. In 1966, Congress passed the Uniform Time Act,which standardized the length of Daylight Saving Time.

Daylight Saving Time is four weeks longer since 2007 due to the passage of the Energy Policy Act in 2005. The Act extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, with the hope that it would save 10,000 barrels of oil each day through reduced use of power by businesses during daylight hours. Unfortunately, it is exceedingly difficult to determine energy savings from Daylight Saving Time and based on a variety of factors, it is possible that little or no energy is saved by Daylight Saving Time.

The phrase "Spring forward, Fall back" helps people remember how Daylight Saving Time affects their clocks. At 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March, we set our clocks forward one hour ahead of Standard Time ("Spring forward"). We "Fall back" at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November by setting our clock back one hour and thus returning to Standard Time.

Playing With Bubble Wrap!

Bubble Wrap is a pliable transparent plastic material commonly used for packing fragile items. Regularly spaced, protruding air-filled hemispheres ("bubbles") provide cushioning for precious or breakable items.
There are web sites that have a screen of bubble wrap that you can use your mouse to pop the bubbles and hear the noise.
Google "Bubble Wrap Painting" and see some really great paintings people do with it.
Of course like most items that are made, they are intended to have one or two uses but like duck tape, you can use bubble wrap for so much more.
I did today's journal page playing with bubble wrap.I do like the results better then just throwing some Gesso on the page.

The Faries Have Named Me!

Your fairy is called Bracken Elffrost
She is a cheerful sprite.
She lives where bracken and curling ferns grow.
She is only seen during the first snow of winter.
She dresses in leafy bracken-green. She has delicate green wings like a cicada.

Have You Ever Completed a Journal?

I have started many journals,I think 12 and have not finished any.I'm not sure I ever will, because it doesn't really matter.
I love being able to draw pictures, paint anything and then also write in my journals. It's YOUR journal so anything goes.Any medium at all will work.I think being able to use any color of paint, pencil, pastels,or pens makes it very exciting.
I used to worry about how it was looking or how it would turn out but then decided "Does That Really Matter?"
Who Cares? It's mine,it's my expression of how I see things.
I don't like to journal about serious stuff,I like to do happy stuff to make myself smile.I like Whimsy and Zetti styles in mine and others journals.
You can take your journal with you anywhere you go and that's very cool.

This is my page for today!

Journal Page for Today!

Today was such a nice day.The temperature was almost 60 degrees.Spring is just around the corner.

I did a journal page today about something lots of my friends and I do everyday.Go without our bra.
Now I know that's not such a big deal if you are under, say 30 years old but I am 58 and it is a big deal.
Last year when I went for my mammogram there was an older lady there who didn't wear a bra and she had her breasts tucked into her pants waistband.I thought to myself,I can't wait till I can do that!
There must be an age where we just don't need to wear a bra anymore.I feel close to it!
I wonder if you never wore a bra again, with those breasts sagging, will gravity pull the wrinkles from your face?

I Am An Artist And I Make Art!

OK,OK I may not be what others call an artist but I really am one
in my heart,my soul and my mind.
The meaning of "Artist" as I have always known it to be,is a person whose
creative work shows sensitivity and imagination and I do that!
There are many types of Art and I believe everyone is an Artist,
some just don't know it yet.

My all time favorite artist and painter from history has got to be "Renoir".
He completed over 6000 paintings in the 60 years he was active as an artist.
My favorite painting of his was "After The Bath".He knew what real women looked like.
He knew what Art was and he painted from real life, but back then what was there to paint but real life?

The Bath

“The work of art must seize upon you, wrap you up in itself and carry you away. It is the means by which the artist conveys his passion. It is the current which he puts forth, which sweeps you along in his passion” Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Do You have a favorite Artist from history?

My Head Is Fatter!

I can not believe today is March 1st!
I can't wait for spring at this point.I really am sick of seeing all the snow.
I am mad at myself for not starting a diet after New Years because I could now be maybe 20 pounds lighter.
I always have an excuse for not dieting, the main one being I don't want to give up everything I love and who does?
Milk Chocolate is really my downfall.Other then crafting eating chocolate is the most fun thing I can do.
This is a page I did today while being mad at being fat.
